Planet hunters keep finding distant worlds that bear a resemblance to Earth. Some of the thousands of exoplanet candidates discovered to date have similar sizes or temperatures. Others possess rocky surfaces and support atmospheres. But no world has yet provided an unambiguous sign of the characteristic that still sets our pale blue dot apart: the presence of life.
That may be about to change, says exoplanet expert Sara Seager of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. Upcoming NASA missions such as the Transiting Exoplanet Satellite Survey (TESS) and the James Webb Space Telescope, both due to launch around 2018, should be able to find and characterize Earth-like planets orbiting small stars.
Spotting signs of life on those planets will be possible because of progress in detecting not only planets, but their atmospheres as well. When a planet passes in front of its host star, atmospheric gases reveal their presence by absorbing some of the starlight. Oxygen, water vapor or other gases that do not belong on dead worlds could very well provide the first evidence of life elsewhere. [5 Bold Claims of Alien Life]
Exoplanet expert Sara Seager of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 1961, astronomer Frank Drake developed an equation that summarizes the main factors to contemplate in the question of radio-communicative alien life. These factors include the number of stars in our galaxy that have planets and the length of time advanced alien civilizations would be releasing radio signals into space.
Instead of aliens with radio technology, Seager has revised the Drake equation to focus on simply the presence of any alien life. Her equation can be used to estimate how many planets with detectable signs of life might be discovered in the coming years. Presented at a meeting earlier this year, the Seager equation looks like this:
N = N*FQFHZFOFLFS
N = the number of planets with detectable signs of life
N* = the number of stars observed
FQ = the fraction of stars that are quiet
FHZ = the fraction of stars with rocky planets in the habitable zone
FO = the fraction of those planets that can be observed
FL = the fraction that have life
FS = the fraction on which life produces a detectable signature gas
Focusing on M stars, the most common stars in our neighborhood that are smaller and less luminous than the sun, Seager plugged in values for each term. Her calculation suggested that two inhabited planets could reasonably turn up during the next decade.

Zombie Apocalypse: Jerimiah Hartline Claims Undead Chasing Him Caused Big-Rig Crash
Jerimiah Hartline, 19, is definitely not on our team when the real Zombie Apocalypse comes. He told local police that several very fast moving zombies were chasing after him screaming for his brains and that is what caused him to jack knife and crash the big rig seen in the above wreck.
Jerimiah Hartline is accused of stealing a 18 wheeler truck on Saturday and that he drove down the highway at speeds of over 100 miles per hour before he crashed the truck. Along the way he caused several wrecks and destroyed five vehicles.
His excuse for why he did all this was you guessed it, Zombies. He said he was chased along the highway by several very swift moving zombies and that they were chasing him screaming that they wanted to eat his brains. Maybe a zombie has already sucked this boy's brain out with a straw and that's why he's so stupid.
Seven people were injured seriously in the wreck and no one saw the zombies but Hartline. Though the local police said there was unknown blood and tissue on one of the rear doors of the 18 wheeler truck that Hartline had stolen and later wrecked. Two of the seven people struck in their vehicles by Hartline were injured seriously.
The 18 wheeler truck that Hartline jacked at a weigh station was loaded with strawberries.
After Hartline wrecked the truck he attempted to carjack a van but several people including the van's driver held Hartline until the police arrived.
Zombie Attack In Texas, Two Zombie Attacks In Two Days. What Is Going On?
Two Zombie Attacks in Texas In Two Days, Zombie Plague Spreads.
On Saturday June 22, 2013 a man who's friends said he was high on synthetic pot went wild and crazy. He stripped off his clothes and ran around the house on his all fours like an animal growling and screaming. At one point one of his friends locked the back glass screen door when the man went outside and the man screamed and then leaped through the locked screen door through the glass in the upper part of the door. He cut his chest and legs badly and was bleeding badly. He was scooping up his own blood with his hands and pushing it into his own mouth eating it.
His friends terrier dog came into the kitchen and the screaming man beat the dog down with his fists and then tore it apart and ate it hair and all. Before the police and paramedics arrived on the scene the man had consumed most of the little terrier dog.
The police had to use tazzers on the man to finally bring him under control. They strapped him down to a stretcher and transported him to the mental ward of a local hospital in Houston Texas. They said the man had lost a good deal of blood from his self inflicted injuries and a police spokesman said that no one should smoke synthetic pot because it appears the product is really driving some people over the edge. He identified the man as 33 year old Michael Daniels of Houston Texas.
Second Zombie Attack Sunday June 23 , 2013, Houston Texas
This is real. Yes let me state that for the record. Something serious is going on and it appears it can be traced to the synthetic pot that some people are smoking.
Police were called to a house on the south side of Houston Texas early on Sunday morning and they found a scene right out of a horror movie. The first officiers on the scene said that Otty Sanchez a Mexican Female and a citizen of Mexico was setting on the couch with her throat slashed and bad cuts to her hands and arms. She was screaming and when they finally figured it out she was saying she had killed and eaten part of her 18 month old little boy. A search of the bedroom confirmed this. Police were also able to figure out that the knife wounds on the woman were self inflicted and that some of them were really bad knife wounds.
The womans husband was finally located hiding at a neighbors house. He said his wife and her friends had been smoking synthetic pot and that it always drove her crazy but this time she went totally over the edge.
The woman was transported to the same mental ward at a local hospital where the man from Saturdays Zombie attack had been taken. On Sunday afternoon the Houston Police Chief said that the synthetic pot was driving people crazy and that everyone should avoid it. He said that Otty Sanchez had been placed in a medically induced coma and that she would be in surgery for a number of hours on Sunday afternoon. He was asked if there had been other zombie attacks but he refused to answer this question. He said that there would be an update on Monday or earlier if anything happened to either Sanchez or Daniels. He said both were expected to recover fully from their injuries but refused to comment about what type of criminal charges would be filed against either of them in the future. And we will be sure to come back here and update when there is more to the story released by the Houston Texas Police Department.
Is The Zombie Apocalyse Here?
Zombies and the Zombie Apocalypse are in the news because Miami Zombie Rudy Eugene ate over 80 percent of a homeless mans face on the side of a Miami freeway and he even continued to eat after he was shot by police. It is believed that Eugene may have been high on bath salts which are said to give you a high similar to cocaine. It will be several weeks before toxicology reports are in however.
Adding fuel to the fire is another incident in the last week in New Jersey where a man Wayne Carter had boarded himself up in his home and when police came after they were called by a concerned neighbor Carter begin to stab himself in his own stomach and cut pieces of his intestines off and threw them at the police. He was finally subdued by members of the local Swat team who downed him with bean bags that were shot from shot guns. Could it be that the Zombie Apocalypse is upon us.
I for one don't want zombies crawling through my bedroom window so lets explore further and see what the possibilities are that zombies could soon be running down a street near you screaming for brains.
The Zombie Institute for Theoretical Studies
Believe it or not but it's a real institute run out of the University Of Glasgow in Scotland. So it seems that at least part of the scientific community believes that a Zombie Apocalypse is possible. There is actually a Z.I.T.S. team that researches what would happen in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse happening here on earth.
The CDC Published A Paper On What To Do If A Zombie Apocalypse Happens
Yes you read that right. On October 11th 2010 the Center For Disease Control released a report on what people should do in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse. While the report does not say that a Zombie Apocalypse is likely to happen in the near future it does furnish information on what you should do if it does happen. The report from the CDC warns that in the event of a zombie attack that you should have your escape route well planned and thought out because hungry zombies are only after one thing and that is your brain. Yes your brain. Zombies eat brains. Do you have any ideal as to what you should do if zombies started appearing outside your door.
1939, Zombies Found In Miami Florida
In 1939 a 14 year old girl was found wandering the streets of Miami Florida. It appears that she was in a trance like condition and could not speak. A few days later a woman came forward who said the girl was fourteen years old and that she had died four years earlier and been buried in a near by cemetery. Police investigated and discovered a sunken in empty grave where the girl was said to have been buried. The young girl later recovered to the point where she could walk and talk normally. She later married and had children.
Man Was Buried Twice In Same Grave Years Apart
Nine days after the girl was found wandering the streets a man was discovered as he repeatedly tried to walk through the wall of a building. His clothes were hanging off of him and it was clear after looking at his nails that the man had been digging in dirt. His nails were torn and some were missing. He was sent to a local mental health home and later it was discovered that he had been buried about five miles from where he was found almost six years before. At the time of his death he was 39. He lived in the mental health home for a couple of years and was then sent back home to his family. A few days later he walked out in front of a train and he was reburied in the same grave where he had been buried years earlier. Hopefully he really was dead this time.
And down through out history there have been many other stories of zombies wondering around long after they were buried.
St Augustine Zombie Attack
On December 12th 1963 a man got up out of his grave where he had been buried and attacked the house where he had lived when he was alive. There is no doubt the event happened we just don't know the exact details.
The Zombie Of St Augustine Florida
In the early morning hours of the 12th of December 1963 a man and his wife were awakened to screams from their nineteen year old daughters room down the hall from their room. The daughter had been laying on her bed when she saw something at her open window. When the teenager approached the window she saw a man whose eyes were sunk in and his gums were pulled back from his teeth.
He was attempting to crawl through her window. She later said that he stank so bad that she could hardly keep from throwing up. The girl slammed the window on one of his arms and it came off at the elbow falling into the room with her. Her father got into the room and to the window in time to see the man stagger off down the street towards some woods. A neighbor man across the street ran into the street after hearing the girls screams and he saw the man to as he staggered off down the street and into the woods. The police were called and they searched the rest of the night for the man. Just at daylight the next morning the man now dead and minus his arm was now laying in some woods about a half mile from where he had attempted to enter the girls room.
The police investigated the incident and immediately thought some one had dug the man up from a local cemetery where he had been buried five years before. You see he was 61 years old when he had died and he had died in the house where the man and woman now lived with their daughter. When the police went to the grave yard it looked like someone had dug their way up and out of the grave.
When the local medical examiner looked at the dead mans nails the mans nails were dirty like he had been digging and he was also missing a finger. The missing finger was later recovered from the cheap cardboard coffin the man had been buried in. Officially the local police said someone or possibly several people had dug the man up and put him where he was found. They would never admit that the man had walked back to his old house on his own. Police said it was a prank but the people there that night said that not only had the man been up and walking but that he was also growling. How this could have been possible no one can say. This story is told by the ghost tour operators on ghost tours in St Augustine Florida to this day. They say it's a true story that really happened. If so it's a spooky story indeed.
Man Claims To Be A Zombie And Asks For Brains
Man In Florida Goes Wild With Desire For Brains. He claimed he was a zombie and said he had to have brains.
Bizarre Screaming Man Kept Screaming, I'm A Zombie I Need Brains
Man arrested after rampage and attack in St. Augustine. He kept saying he was a zombie and that he had to have brains. Police said they had no ideal why the man from a town thirty miles away showed up and attacked the house, lawn furniture, a truck, and the two men who lived in the house. At one point witnesses at the scene said he had no clothes on and he was on the roof of the house trying to stomp his way through the roof. He broke all the glass out of a second story window cutting his own leg badly before he leaped on the top of a truck and then onto the ground.
A bizarre screaming man went on a rampage Saturday, biting a large chunk out of a man’s stomach after leaping from a roof onto a truck on Palmetto Avenue, according to the St. Augustine Police Department Spokesman. A unnamed police officer said it was the strangest thing he had ever seen in his life. He said the young man kept insisting he was a zombie and he had to have brains.
After it took several officers and paramedics to subdue him, 22-year-old Jeremiah Aaron Haughee of North Central Avenue in Flagler Beach was booked into the St. Johns County jail on nine counts of battery, according to the arrest report. Six of the batteries were against police officer's , while Haughee was also charged with burglary and criminal mischief before he was released later Saturday into the custody of a Duval County Mental Health Facility.
Police were called to the scene about 4:30 a.m. to find a naked man being restrained by two men outside their home on Palmetto Avenue, the arrest report said. The men said they were asleep when they heard someone destroying their lawn furniture, then climbing on their roof before leaping onto a truck and denting its hood. The men said he kept screaming and growling and insisted he was a zombie. He told them he had to have their brains. They did not know the man and stated they had never seen him.
When the men came out of their house to see what was happening, Haughee ran in and tackled them. He urinated on the floor before biting one of them in the stomach as they held him for police, according to the police report.
It took nine officers and four paramedics with two sets of handcuffs, leg shackles, a spit-prevention hood and Taser strikes to control the out of control man, a police spokesman said. Five officers were kicked, hit or bitten during the arrest. Haughee was taken to Flagler Hospital and anesthetized to calm him down, then jailed.
There is no initial indication if he was on any substance during his rampage, police said. However he did keep screaming at the hospital staff that he had to have brains. He wanted to know if they had any brains he could have.
Is The Zombie Apocalypse Here
There Are Scientific Reasons A Zombie Apocalypse Could Happen
If you try to leave a little kid in a graveyard at night he or she will flat freak out on you even if you leave a gun with them. They know that if a zombie attack happens that the gun is not going to be any good. Guns won't stop zombies.
Do you know that living with us right here on earth are brain parasites that could cause zombies. Yes you read that right. Unfortunately in nature parasites that can cause zombies are fairly common. Much more common than you would like to think.
There is a parasite that infects the brains of rats that is called toxoplasmosa gondii and guess the only place this particular parasite will grow. If you guessed the intestines of a cat you guessed it. And about half the people on earth are infected with toxoplasmosa. Yes about half. So you may be closer to being a zombie than you know.
Watch Out For The Zombies At Your Bedroom Window
Humans and rats really aren't that different. That's why they use rats to test medicines on before they give it to humans. All it would take to turn about half the people on earth into zombies is for the parasite to evolve just a little bit and then your neighbors would all be screaming brains and trying to crawl through your bedroom window.
Have You Ever Heard Of A Man Named Clairvius Narcisse?
He was a Haitian man declared dead by two doctors and buried in a local cemetery. Now while that isn't amazing it is amazing that 18 years later he was found wondering around the local area. Can you say Zombie. Research said that Voodoo priests in the area had been using locally available chemicals to turn people into zombies and they had been putting these people to work on local sugar plantations. And as strange as it may sound to you this was supposedly true. How many people did they turn into Zombies that never did wake up.
Zombies are a part of the Voodoo culture and it seems that some people really were turned into Zombies by Voodoo Practitioners. There really does seem to be something to the zombie legend. You see poison extracted from a puffer fish actually can cause paralysis or death in humans. The Voodoo practitioner knew something to mix with the puffer fish poison to turn the person into a zombie.
How About A Super Mad Cow Disease
What if mad cow disease which is a disease rarely found in cows were to evolve into a disease that spread more rapidly and it got into the United States beef supply and before it could be stopped it turned all the beef eating people in the United States into zombies. It may never happen but it could. It's a scientific fact that parasites and micro-orgasms are constantly evolving. So it's not as far fetched as you might think for a parasite to evolve.
A zombie walk in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. You should note that these were people playing at being zombies.
Watch Out For Zombies
You want to be sure that your prepared in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse. What would you do if you looked at your window one day and all at once you saw hundreds of the undead walking across the field coming towards your house. I believe I would have an escape route planned out so you can escape the zombies out looking for brains.
Down throughout history zombies have been reported. I can't tell you that they exist while at the same time I can't tell you that they don't exist. Somehow some people have at times been turned into zombie like creatures. It appears almost certainly that some people back in the days before embalming were buried and dug their way out of graves. There are many documented cases of this happening.
It has also been reported around the world that voodoo practitioners are some way able to turn people into living breathing zombies by using blow fish poison and other secret ingredients. No one really knows how this could be possible but it appears that it really does happen. How often it happens no one seems to know.
In the mean time I'll hope the Zombie Apocalypse isn't happening and I'll hope that dead people will stay in their graves and not dig out and become zombies. All I can tell you is that if you do see zombies coming run. Have your escape route planned out so they don't eat your brains.

Jerimiah Hartline, 19 years old, stole a 18 wheeler loaded with strawberries at a California weigh station and drove it down the highway sometimes at over 100 miles a hour before he crashed the truck blocking the highway and caused 7 other wrecks injuring 2 people seriously.
He claimed that he was being chased by you guessed it Zombies. He said at one point that a huge Zombie on a Harley was chasing him at one point screaming for his brains. After he wrecked the truck the freeway was blocked in one direction and Harline attempted to steal a van but the van’s owner and several other people detained him until the police arrived.
Police say that Hartline was highly agitated and he kept screaming for people to run that Zombies are coming. And we have the rest of the story for you and what a story it is. Just CLICK HERE

A supermoon’s effects are imperceptible, far smaller than those encountered in other everyday situations, such as being near a mountain or even a large building.
The term supermoon denotes a full moon that occurs at roughly the same time the moon is nearest Earth in its monthly orbit. The next one is coming up on the night of June 22-23, 2013. An astrologer, not an astronomer, coined the term supermoon, and it has only recent come into common usage. Although this term is of little to no importance in astronomy, its significance to astrologers may be greater, and some may suppose that a supermoon has some kind of effect on people on Earth. But does it? I decided to calculate the values of different influences on individuals at the extreme of lunar perigee (when the moon is closest to Earth, and presumably has the greatest effect on our planet).
A merge of two images: moon from Wikimedia Commons and Superman emblem came from layoutsparks.com
Astronomers use the term perigee to describe the moon’s closest point to Earth, from Greek words peri meaning “near” and gee meaning “Earth.” In astronomy and other sciences, a related term – perigean tides – refers to the higher tides that can occur when full moon and perigee coincide, as they fairly frequently do. Simply put, an extra-close full moon causes higher-than-usual perigean tides.
What’s more, given the change in distance between the moon’s farthest and closest points, the full moon can appear as much as 14% larger in the sky and 30% brighter to our eyes than at minimum size and brightness.
These changes do not come all of a sudden from month to month, however, and without anything with which to compare them, the changes in the moon’s size or brightness are hard to quantify by simple observation. To notice the difference, you would need to see the apogean (smallest) full moon and the perigean (largest) full moon side by side, which only possible through photography or through some form of direct measurement.
During the time of a supermoon, or any full moon, our satellite is in line with the sun. At that time, the sun and moon’s gravitational effects combine. For reasons we will not discuss here, the sun’s gravitational effect on Earth (as in influencing the tides) is only about half that of the moon. For this discussion, we will simply ignore the sun’s influence.
When the moon is closest to the Earth, its gravitational pull is at its peak.
So the question becomes, how much does the moon’s gravitational influence on Earth vary from minimum (apogee, or farthest point from the planet) to maximum (perigee)?
I will not bore you (or scare you!) with the math, but the variation from minimum lunar pull to maximum pull is roughly 23 percent. That sounds like a lot. However, it amounts to less than 2 ten-thousandths of the mass (or less precisely, the “weight”) of the moon.
More importantly from an astrological perspective (I presume, since I decidedly am not an astrologer) would be the effect on a human being. Consider an 80-kilogram (176-pound) human being. The maximum difference between apogean and perigean moons is about 73 milligrams, or about 1/14th the mass of an ordinary paper clip. If you factor in the solar gravity effect for a supermoon, or full moon closest to Earth, this effect may rise to about 110 milligrams, roughly equivalent to about 1/9th the mass of a paperclip.
In either case, the effects are imperceptible, and far smaller than those encountered in other everyday situations, such as being near a mountain or even a large building.
But, you might counter, I said earlier than an extra-close full moon causes higher-than-usual perigean tides. The tides are a very different situation from human beings. Tides work through what is called a differential gravitational effect. Specifically, the force of gravity exerted on the part of the Earth opposite the moon (the far side of Earth, as seen from the moon) is slightly less than the force of gravity exerted on the part of the Earth directly beneath the moon (the Earth’s near side, as seen from the moon) at any given time. Why? Because there’s an additional distance – about 8,000 miles – from one side of earth to the other. The force of gravity weakens rapidly with increasing distance, producing the differential.
The result of this differential gravitational effect of the moon is that our planet is stretched slightly, along a line between the Earth and moon. The body of the Earth is fairly rigid, so it does not stretch much, but the oceans are much more easily moved. Thus the effect piles up water on either side of Earth, and these piles of water – created by the differential gravitational effect – are the tides. Note that, on average, the tidal effect is quite small. It raises tides only a few feet across an 8,000-mile-wide planet Earth.
Technically, the same effect acts on your body as well, since one side is farther from the moon than the other. However, the difference in distance is on the order of one foot, rather than thousands of miles. Thus the differential is millions of times less, and the effect on a human body infinitesimally small and irrelevant.
Supermoons are important because they focus attention on the moon, and nature in general. But the bottom line is that any physical effects of supermoons are not exactly super. There is no reasonable evidence that they cause super disasters. The effects that people may attribute to them are psychological rather than physical.

Full moon falls on June 23, 2013 at 11:32 UTC (6:32 a.m. CDT in the U.S.). Thus, for many, the moon appears about as full in the June 22 evening sky as it does on the evening of June 23. This full moon is not only the closest and largest full moon of the year. It also presents the moon’s closest encounter with Earth for all of 2013. The moon will not be so close again until August, 2014. In other words, it’s not just a supermoon. It’s the closest supermoon of 2013.
We astronomers call this sort of close full moon a perigee full moon. The word perigee describes the moon’s closest point to Earth for a given month. Two years ago, when the closest and largest full moon fell on March 19, 2011, many used the term supermoon, which we’d never heard before. Last year, we heard this term again to describe the year’s closest full moon on May 6, 2012. Now the term supermoon is being used a lot. Last month’s full moon – May 24-25, 2013 – was also a supermoon. But the June full moon is even more super! In other words, the time of full moon falls even closer to the time of perigee, the moon’s closest point to Earth. The crest of the moon’s full phase in June 2013, and perigee, fall within an hour of each other.
What does supermoon mean exactly? And how special is the June 23, 2013 supermoon?
What is a supermoon?
The word supermoon didn’t come from astronomy. Instead, it came from astrology. Astrologer Richard Nolle of the website astropro.com takes credit for coining the term supermoon. In 1979, he defined it as:
…a new or full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit (perigee). In short, Earth, moon and sun are all in a line, with moon in its nearest approach to Earth.
By this definition, according to Nolle:
There are 4-6 supermoons a year on average.
That doesn’t sound very special, does it? In fact, the June 2013 full moon lines up much more closely with perigee – the moon’s closest point to Earth – than Nolle’s original definition. According to Guy Ottewell’s Astronomical Calendar 2013, the 2013 June full moon falls only 22 minutes after the moon reaches perigee, the moon’s closest point to Earth for this month and year. At perigee, the moon lies only 356,991 kilometers (221,824 miles) away. Two weeks later, on July 7, the moon will swing out to apogee – its farthest point for the month and year – at 406,490 kilometers (252,581 miles) distant.
How super is this supermoon?
June 2013 presents the moon’s closest encounter with Earth until August 10, 2014, at which time the moon will be a scant 5 kilometers closer to Earth. The full moon will come even closer to Earth on September 28, 2015 (356,877 kilometers) and closer yet on November 14, 2016 (356,509 kilometers). November 2016 will feature the closest full moon until November 25, 2034! Maybe this helps you see that supermoons – while interesting – are fairly routine astronomical events.
Even the proximity of full moon with perigee isn’t all that rare. The extra-close moon in all of these years – 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 – finds the full moon taking place at or nearly the same hour as lunar perigee. More often than not, the closest perigee of the year comes on the one day of the year that the full moon and perigee most closely coincide. (See table below.)
How often is moon both full and closest to Earth?
Closest full moons recur in cycles of 14 lunar (synodic) months, because 14 lunar months almost exactly equal 15 returns to perigee (moon’s closest point to Earth). A lunar month refers to the time period between successive full moons, a mean period of 29.53059 days. An anomalistic month refers to successive returns to perigee, a period of 27.55455 days. Hence:
14 x 29.53059 days = 413.428 days
15 x 27.55455 days = 413.318 days
This time period is equal to about 1 year, 1 month, and 18 days. The full moon and perigee will realign again on August 10, 2014, because the 14th full moon after the 2013 June 23 full moon will fall on that date.
Looking further into the future, the perigee full moon will come closer than 356,500 kilometers for the first time in the 21st century on November 25, 2034 (356,446 km). The closest full moon of the 21st century will fall on December 6, 2052 (356,425 km).
For the moon to come closer than 356,400 kilometers (221,457 miles) is quite a feat. In fact, this won’t happen at all in the 21st century (2001-2100) or the 22nd century (2101-2200). The last time the full moon perigee swung this close to Earth was on January 14, 1930 (356,397 km), and the next time won’t be till January 1, 2257 (356,371 km).
Will the tides be higher than usual?
Yes, all full moons bring higher-than-usual tides, and perigee full moons bring the highest (and lowest) tides of all. Each month, on the day of the full moon, the moon, Earth and sun are aligned, with Earth in between. This line up creates wide-ranging tides, known as spring tides. High spring tides climb up especially high, and on the same day low tides plunge especially low.
Today’s extra-close full moon accentuates these monthly (full moon) spring tides all the more.
If you live along a coastline, watch for high tides caused by the June 23 perigee full moon – or supermoon – over the next several days. Will the high tides cause flooding? Probably not, unless a strong weather system moves into the coastline where you are. Still, keep an eye on the weather, because storms do have a large potential to accentuate high spring tides.
As a result, if you live near a coast, you’ll want to be on the lookout for higher-than-usual tides.
Because the moon – as always – shines opposite the sun in our sky at full moon, you’ll see the moon beaming all night tonight from dusk until dawn. This extra-close full moon is likely to usher in large tides along the ocean shorelines for the next several days, especially if these high tides are accompanied by strong onshore winds.
Bottom line: The full moon of June 22-23, 2013 is the closest and largest full moon of this year. By a new definition – one that has just entered the world of astronomy from astrology – many will call it a supermoon. There are three full moons in 2013 that meet the definition of a supermoon – May, June and July. But this June 22-23 full moon is the most super of the supermoons! A super-duper moon!

Enormous mosquitoes known as gallinippers (or Psorophora ciliata) have been spotted in Florida, according to WKMG, a CBS affiliate. The insects are about 20 times larger than most common mosquitoes. The sighting comes after a warning by the University of Florida that there could be a bumper crop of these mosquitoes this summer.
Gallinippers can grow to the size a quarter and have painful stings, which can feel "like you're being stabbed," Anthony Pelaez of Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry told Fox Orlando earlier this year. The huge insects are known to be aggressive and feed both day and night; most mosquitoes aren't active during the day.
The gallinippers depend on heavy rains and were nourished by last year's downpour from Tropical Storm Debby. Continued rainfall, like that from Tropical Storm Andrea, will likely cause a spike in all mosquitoes this summer, Kelly Deutsch, the director of Seminole County Mosquito Control, told WKMG.

Ernest writes, "Ever since I have this clown doll, weird things started to happen. I started to hear small children whispering and giggling, and I also heard foot steps. I would leave it in one place and the next thing you know it is somewhere else. I thought it was my imagination. So I intentionally left it in the corner of my living room to monitor it and a few days later, it moved about 3 feet away from where I had left it."

A hundred years before James Cameron turned douchebaggery into an art form at the Oscars, American author Morgan Robertson wrote a shitty book called Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan, about the sinking of an "unsinkable" ocean liner. When you see the cover, you figure you're pretty clearly looking at a fictionalized version of the Titanic story.
No surprise there; it's a story that's been told over and over (there were 13 Titanic movies before Cameron's, including one by the Nazis) but Robertson's book was first.
Where it Gets Weird:
He was so eager to be first, apparently, that he didn't bother to wait for the Titanic to actually sink before writing about it. The Wreck of the Titan was published in 1898, 14 years before RMS Titanic was even finished being [cheaply] built.
The similarities between Robertson's work and the Titanic disaster are so astounding that one has to imagine if White Star Line built Titanic to Robertson's specs as a dare. The Titan was described as "the largest craft afloat and the greatest of the works of men," "equal to that of a first class hotel," and, of course, "unsinkable".
Both ships were British-owned steel vessels, both around 800 feet long and sank after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic, in April, "around midnight." Sound like enough to keep you up at night? Maybe that's why Robertson republished the book in 1912 just in case enough people didn't know that he wrote it.
And you thought this guy was an ass.
Where it Gets Even Weirder:
While the novel does bear some curious coincidences with the Titanic disaster, there are quite a few things that Robertson got flat wrong. For one, the Titanic did not crash into an iceberg "400 miles from Newfoundland" at 25 knots. It crashed into an iceberg 400 miles from Newfoundland at 22.5 knots.
Wait, what the fuck? That's one hell of a lucky guess!
What 41.1 million square miles looks like.
But maybe the weirdest thing about Titan were points that had nothing to do with the story, but check out after numerous inquires and expeditions to the Titanic wreck site.
For one, both the Titan and the Titanic had too few lifeboats to accommodate every passenger on board; the Titan carrying "as few as the law allowed." While Robertson decided to be generous and include four lifeboats more on his ship than Titanic, it's an odd point to bring up when you consider that lifeboats had nothing to do with the fucking story. When Titan hit the iceberg (starboard bow, naturally), the ship sank immediately, making the point made about lifeboats inconsequential. Why the fuck mention this?!
It'd be like HAL 9000 addressing the danger posed by O-rings at low temperature decades before the Challenger disaster.

In 1976, the late Zecharia Sitchin stirred up a great deal of controversy with the publication of his book, The Twelfth Planet. In this and subsequent books, Sitchin presented his literal translations of ancient Sumerian texts which told an incredible story about the origins of humankind on planet Earth - a story far different and much more fantastic than what we all learned in school.
The ancient cuneiform texts -- some of the earliest known writing, dating back some 6,000 years -- told the story of a race of beings called the Anunnaki. The Anunnaki came to Earth from a planet in our solar system called Nibiru, according to the Sumerians via Sitchin. If you've never heard of it, that's because mainstream science does not recognize Nibiru as one of the planets that revolves around our Sun. Yet it is there, claims Sitchin, and its presence holds great importance not only for humankind's past, but our future as well.
Nibiru's orbit around the Sun is highly elliptical, according to Sitchin's books, taking it out beyond the orbit of Pluto at its farthest point and bringing it as close to the Sun as the far side of the asteroid belt (a ring of asteroids that is known to occupy a band of space between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter). It takes Nibiru 3,600 years to complete one orbital journey, and it was last in this vicinity around 160 B.C.E. As you can imagine, the gravitational effects of a sizable planet moving close to the inner solar system, as it is claimed for Nibiru, could wreak havoc on the orbits of other planets, disrupt the asteroid belt and spell big trouble for planet Earth.
Well, prepare for yet another possible apocalypse because, they say, Nibiru is once again heading this way - and will be here soon.
A BIT OF HISTORY
The story of the Anunnaki is told in Sitchin's many books and is digested, augmented and speculated about in dozens of websites. But the tale is essentially this: About 450,000 years ago, Alalu, the deposed ruler of the Anunnaki on Nibiru, escaped the planet on a spaceship and found refuge on Earth. He discovered that Earth had plenty of gold, which Nibiru needed to protect its diminishing atmosphere. They began to mine Earth's gold, and there were a lot of political battles among the Anunnaki for power.
Then around 300,000 years or so ago, the Anunnaki decided to create a race of workers by genetically manipulating the primates on the planet. The result was homo sapiens - us. Eventually, rulership of the Earth was handed over to humans and the Anunnaki left, at least for the time being. Sitchin ties all this - and much more - into the stories of the first books of the Bible and the histories of other ancient cultures, especially Egyptian.
It's an astonishing story, to say the least. Most historians, anthropologists and archeologists consider it all Sumerian myth, of course. But Sitchin's work has created a diehard cadre of believers and researchers who take the story at face value. And some of them, whose ideas are getting widespread attention thanks to the Internet, contend that the return of Nibiru is close at hand - possibly as soon as somewhere between now and 2013!
WHERE IS NIBIRU AND WHEN WILL IT ARRIVE?
Even mainstream astronomers have long speculated that there may be an unknown planet - a Planet X - somewhere out beyond the orbit of Pluto that would account for the anomalies they were detecting in the orbits of Neptune and Uranus. Some unseen body seems to be tugging at them. The finding was reported in the June 19, 1982 edition of the New York Times:
Something out there beyond the furthest reaches of the known solar system is tugging at Uranus and Neptune. A gravitational force keeps perturbing the two giant planets, causing irregularities in their orbits. The force suggests a presence far away and unseen, a large object, the long-sought Planet X. Astronomers are so certain of this planet's existence that they have already named it "Planet X - the 10th Planet."The anomalous body was first spotted in 1983 by IRAS (Infrared Astronomical Satellite), according to news stories. The Washington Post reported: "A heavenly body possibly as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that it would be part of this solar system has been found in the direction of the constellation Orion by an orbiting telescope aboard the U.S. infrared astronomical satellite. So mysterious is the object that astronomers do not know if it is a planet, a giant comet, a nearby 'protostar' that never got hot enough to become a star, a distant galaxy so young that it is still in the process of forming its first stars or a galaxy so shrouded in dust that none of the light cast by its stars ever gets through."
Nibiru supporters contend that IRAS has, in fact, spotted the wandering planet.
"A Mystery Revolves Around the Sun," an article posted by MSNBC on October 7, 1999 said: "Two teams of researchers have proposed the existence of an unseen planet or a failed star circling the sun at a distance of more than 2 trillion miles, far beyond the orbits of the nine known planets... Planetary scientist at Britain's Open University, speculates that the object could be a planet larger than Jupiter." And in December, 2000, SpaceDaily reported on "Another Candidate For 'Planet X' Spotted."
Another article and photo appeared in Discovery News: "Large Object Discovered Orbiting Sun." The article, published in July, 2001, says, "The discovery of a large reddish chunk of something orbiting in Pluto's neighborhood has re-ignited the idea that there may be more than nine planets in the solar system." Naming it 2001 KX76. the discoverers estimate that it is smaller than our Moon and might have an elongated orbit, but they gave no indication that it was heading this way.
Mark Hazelwood, who has a large website warning about the impending arrival of Nibiru and how we should prepare for it, suggests that all of these news stories lend credence to the existence of the Anunnaki's Nibiru (although none of the articles said the celestial body was heading toward Earth).
Andy Lloyd isn't as pessimistic - or at least his calculations are different. Since he speculates that Nibiru was actually the Star of Bethlehem seen about 2,000 years ago, "the problem faced by humanity as Nibiru again enters the planetary zone will fall to our descendants 50 generations hence."
There is even speculation that the Vatican is tracking the position of Niburu. This video quotes Father Malachi Martin being interviewed by Art Bell as saying that the Vatican hierarchy, through research at its astronomical observatory, is monitoring the approach of something that could be "of great import" in the coming years.
WHAT WILL BE THE EFFECTS ON EARTH?
As stated before, the gravitational pull of a planet entering the inner solar system would have profound effects on the other orbiting bodies, including Earth. In fact, the Anunnaki story says that a previous appearance of Nibiru was responsible for the "Great Flood" recorded in Genesis, in which nearly all life on our planet was extinguished (but saved, thanks to Noah). Going even further back, some researchers into this topic suspect that Nibiru once even collided with Earth millions of years ago, creating the asteroid belt and resulting in the enormous gouges in our planet that the oceans now fill.
Mark Hazelwood and others say that Earth is in for some massive and catastrophic changes as Nibiru approaches. Floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, a pole shift and other natural disasters will be so severe, Hazelwood says, that "only a few hundred million people will survive." Another site says the gravitational pull of Nibiru might even stop the Earth's rotation for three days, citing the "three days of darkness" predicted in the Bible.
Some of the Nibiru researchers also cite the prophecies of Edgar Cayce who predicted that we would soon suffer monumental Earth changes and a pole shift, even though he did not attribute them to anything as specific as a visiting planet. And, of course, the much-analyzed Mayan calendar is said to set the "end of world" in December, 2012.
Astronomers and other scientists who would seem to be in a position to know such things have made no announcements about the approach of any planet-sized body. Apparently, they have not detected anything of the kind. Those who believe Nibiru is approaching, however, say that scientists do know all about it and are just covering it up.
As with any such predictions, time will tell.

Those of you following me for some time know that I like to get information from various esoteric tools, and share it in case you find it provocative and insightful. The object of my most recent attention is today’s date – November 11, 2009, or 11:11:11 (by adding 2 + 9 of 2009).
This is the first time this master number has shown up in a date (in what I understand our lifetime!), which is big energy on a number of levels.
To begin, 11 is the master psychic’s number, and focuses on intuition, spiritual truth, ideals and being a conduit for high vibration energy and insights. It’s not about being risky, reckless or even speculative; in fact, it’s the opposite. It’s making choices and decisions from a deep knowingness that transcends the surface ‘look’ of a situation, circumstances or relationship.
When you (or any of us) operate from that deep inner place, you are following your unique insights, which is the only place to enhance our true creativity. Looking for the short, obvious answers stunts our growth, the remedy of which is to know what we know and be responsible for it.
The primary energy of 11:11:11 is (naturally enough) 1 energy, which is about leadership, new beginnings, fresh starts, pioneering, independence, self-awareness, consciousness, leading your own life and taking care of your own needs; however, the shadow side of 1 energy includes being selfish, arrogant, aggressive, egotistical and lacking tact.
The 1 + 1 energy of 11 is the number of connection – if you know that 1 + 1 equals two, but it doesn’t feeeeel right, it’s a sign that you’ve overlooked some details and your intuition is talking to you to help you connect the dots.
The 11.11 energy invites being fully accountable for your actions and how you are living your life from an evolved perspective. When not fully expressed, the shadow energy of 11 is living in fantasy, instability, paranoia, un-balanced, ignorant, manipulative, with an irrational fear of change and self-sabotage.
It’s a powerful number that can offer clarity or delusion, depending on how you relate to it.
The 11 energy helps us to see things from different perspectives – even the 11 (when laid sideways) becomes an equal sign (=).
And 11 is made up of two 1s, symbolizing humanity by the 1 looking at itself (think 1:1 with the colon as the mirror). The 11 energy represents both the one person but also the ‘we’ that is formed by two. It is the individual reflecting on oneself at a deep level (not just the surface image) to grow into self-acceptance and more full contribution to the whole.
11:11:11 (the date today) adds up to the number 6, which is the number of domestic responsibilities, home, family, stability, accountability and balance. The 6 energy teaches how to make the ‘right’ decisions, to rise above small-mindedness and to see the hidden aspects of your priorities and decisions – they have to go beyond your own interests to include your “family” (whether biological or chosen).
There aren’t any quick fixes in the six vibration; instead, it’s about patience and taking time to let things grow (as we do with children).
In this energy, you are the parent – to shepherd positive growth, to teach, be a good role model, and be fully expressed from the inside out – for yourself and the people in your world. This may require some healing from the inside out too, which means letting go of that which you know no longer serves you emotionally, physically, intellectually, energetically, spiritually. This is the time to release those old patterns and heal, as the power of profound insights supports your change.
May you discover your insights and illuminated path for yourself and your business by using the 11:11:11 energy today and beyond.
